Glazed Chocolate Donuts Recipe
Yield: Approx. 12 donuts
Cook time: 12-14 minutes
Ingredients:
For the Chocolate Donuts:
- 1 pkg. Maja chocolate cake mix
- ⅓ cup applesauce
- ⅓ cup oil
- ½ cup dairy-free yogurt
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- ⅓ cup boiling water
For the Vanilla Glaze:
- 2 ¾ cups powdered sugar
- ¼ cup unsweetened non-dairy milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
Recipe:
First, you will need to preheat your oven. If you have a lighter colored donut pan, you’ll want to preheat to 350 °F. If you are using a dark pan, you should preheat to 325 °F and grease the pan with nonstick cooking spray.
Next, you’ll need to add your Maja dry mix to a large bowl. Mix in the applesauce, oil, yogurt, and vanilla extract, and then beat in boiling water on a low speed until smooth.
Once the batter is nice and smooth, it’s time to add your mix to the pan. Fill each donut pan cavity at least ¾ full (almost to the top). Bake for 12-14 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Invert the pan onto a cooling rack to release the donuts from the pan and allow them to cool slightly before glazing.
When the donuts have cooled a bit, you are ready for the glaze! To make the vanilla glaze, combine all ingredients in a large bowl and whisk until smooth. So simple!
One at a time, dip the donuts into the glaze or spoon the glaze over top, allowing the excess to drip back into the bowl. Set the glazed donuts on a cooling rack or a sheet of wax paper for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the glaze to set.
Enjoy!
